Christmas Carol the Musical

The holiday production for the 2018-2019 Town Hall Arts Center season is A Christmas Carol, the Musical, playing now through December 23rd.

Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, Book by Lynn Ahrens and Mike Ockrent Based on the story by Charles Dickens. A Christmas Carol, the Musical is a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens’ most well-known story by Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island). Ebenezer Scrooge believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge is forced to face his selfish ways on Christmas Eve when three ghosts visit to lead him through his Past, Present and Future.

Robert Wells is back directing his first show of the 2018-2019 season. Bob recently directed Ain’t Misbehavin’, Something’s Afoot and Seussical last season. Bob serves as one of the resident directors at Town Hall Arts Center and was resident director at the Bonfils Theatre and founded the Avenue Theater, as well the theater program at Cherry Creek High School.

Musical direction is by Donna Kolpan Debreceni, last seen directing music for Green Day’s American Idiot, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Sisters of Swing and In the Heights last season. Donna is a Henry Award Winner for THAC’s 2012 production of The Who’s Tommy.

Kelly Kates is also returning as Choreographer. Kelly is the performing arts teacher for Mackintosh Academy and has enjoyed choreographing for Town Hall (including Seussical, Once Upon a Mattress, Shrek, The Producers, Brigadoon, Oklahoma & Guys and Dolls)

A Christmas Carol, the Musical features several returning actors including Steven Turner as Ebenezer Scrooge, last seen at Town Hall in the 2012 production of Sweet Charity. Eli Stewart returns to Town Hall playing the role of Bob Cratchit, Eli was last seen in the 2017 production of Seussical. Charla Mason Kelly is also returning after a three-year hiatus as Mrs. Cratchit, Charla was last seen in the 2015 production of A Clean House. For a complete listing of cast and crew go

Town Hall’s production of A Christmas Carol, the Musical is sponsored by Amica Insurance. A Christmas Carol, the Musical opens Friday, November 9 and runs through Sunday, December 23, 2018. Showtimes are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. (and 2 p.m. on 11/24, 12/1, 12/15 & 12/22) and Sundays at 2 p.m. (and 6:30 p.m. on 12/9).
