Town Hall Arts Center presents Ain’t Misbehavin

The  intoxicating music of Fats Waller will delight and energize audiences providing great insight to a vibrant time in American history and music! The last main stage show of the 2017-2018 Town Hall Arts Center season is Ain’t Misbehavin’. Music by Thomas “Fats” Waller, Conceived by Richard Maltby, Jr. & Murray Horwitz, Lyrics by Various. Ain’t Misbehavin’ is one of the most popular, well-crafted revues of all time winning the 1978 Tony Award for Best Musical. Not quite a biography, the musical evokes the delightful humor and infectious energy of this American original.

Bob Wells is back directing his last show of the 2017-2018 season. Bob recently directed Something’s Afoot, and Seussical, the Musical, this season and Once Upon a Mattress, Avenue Q and The Robber Bridegroom last season. Bob has been directing in Denver for several decades, including at the Bonfils Theatre (DCPA) and the Avenue Theater (founder).

Musical direction is by Donna Kolpan Debreceni; last seen directing music for Sisters of Swing, Something’s Afoot, Peter and the Starcatcher, Seussical, the Musical and In the Heights this season. Donna is a Henry Award Winner for THAC’s 2012 production of The Who’s Tommy. Donna will be doing double duty, playing keyboards with Jon-Paul Frappier on trumpet, Larry Ziehl on drums, Rob Olds on trombone, Scott Alan Smith on bass, and Bob Rebholzon reeds.

The Ain’t Misbehavin’ cast comprises returning artists Randy Chalmers and Krisangela Washington. Making their Town Hall Arts Center debut are Leonard Barrett Jr. and Mary Louise Lee, these Actors appear through the courtesy of Actors’ Equity Association, the Union of Professional Actors and Stage Managers in the United States.  Also making her debut is Rajdulari Music.
