The BDT Stage presents
Always Patsy Cline
March 3 – May 2, 2018
An inspirational show told through the letters of star-struck fan Louise Seger, ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE is based on the true story of singer Patsy Cline’s friendship with Seger. Seger befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in 1961 and continued a correspondence with Cline until her untimely death in a plane crash in 1963. Featuring the unforgettable hits of the country music mega-star, this funny and touching tribute celebrates the career and life of the singer whose music “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking After Midnight” are just a few of the 27 featured songs. Always…Patsy Cline plays BDT Stage March 10 – May 20, 2018.
There is no question the story of Patsy Cline bursts with theatrical material. A hardscrabble Virginia girl when Arthur Godfrey discovered her, she was one of the first country to pop crossover artists thanks to her hit “Walkin’ After Midnight.” Cline catapulted to stardom, entertaining fans everywhere from the Grand Ole Opry to Carnegie Hall. At the pinnacle of her fame, she had been married twice (she married and divorced Gerald Cline when he would not let her have a career, and later married Charlie Dick) and had two children. She had survived several brushes with death, including a terrible car wreck that almost took her life and scarred her face, before her life ended abruptly in a plane crash at age 30. A 2005 release, “Patsy Cline’s Greatest Hits,” sold over 10 million albums, and according to the Guinness Book of World Records is the longest-charting title by a female artist ever.
Featuring Norrell Moore as Patsy and Alicia K. Meyers as Louise. Co-directed by BDT Stage artistic director Michael J. Duran and Alicia K. Meyers. A live band will be featured on stage led by BDT Stage music director Neal Dunfee.
