Benchmark Theatre announces the regional premiere of Jacqueline Goldfinger’s The Arsonists as the second production of their sophomore season, opening June 22nd. The production, directed by Stephen Weitz of Boulder Ensemble Theater Company, opens Friday, June 22nd and runs through Saturday, July 21st with performances Friday – Saturday evenings at 8pm and Sunday evenings at 6pm. Additional performances on Thursday, July 12th and July 19th . (Note: No performance on Friday, July 6th .) The production will take place at the company’s new home in the 40 West Arts District in Lakewood at 1560 Teller Street. Set deep in a Florida swamp, THE ARSONISTS; is a father-daughter tale of grief, loss and redemption. Inspired by the Greek tragedy Electra; this play with music is a contemporary American myth that explores the relationship between parent and child in that small space between death and life, the last breath before the awakening and the impact of family on defining oneself.
Benchmark Theatre is a new, professional theatre company that launched its first season in 2017. They endeavor to contribute to the elevation of Colorado’s theatrical presence and audience experience with unique, high-quality productions and community partnerships.
The cast features Michael Morgan* and newcomer Rebakah Goldberg. (*Denotes a member of Actors’ Equity Association.)
In addition to director Stephen Weitz, the creative team includes Tyler Hughes (Musical Director), Katie Espinoza (Production State Manager), Christopher M. Waller (Scenic Design), Jaime McNear (Costume Design), Neil Truglio (Lighting Design), Andy Bakehouse (Properties Design) and Rachel Rogers (Sound Design).
