The Denver Center for the Performing Arts Announces its 2018/19 BROADWAY SEASON!
Denver Center for the Performing Arts Broadway proudly announces the 2018/19 season, kicking off withthe national tour launch of the 2017 Tony® & Grammy®-winning Best Musical, DEAR EVAN HANSEN, at The Buell Theatre September 25 through October 13, 2018. Joining DEAR EVAN HANSEN is the 2017 Tony Award®-winning Best Musical Revival, HELLO, DOLLY!, starring Broadway legend Betty Buckley, and the first national tours of COME FROM AWAY, A BRONX TALE, THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, ROALD DAHL’S CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY and ANASTASIA. Also, as part of the season, DCPA Cabaret will produce XANADU.
New subscriptions start as low as eight payments of $55.13. Reservations for the limited number of new subscriptions are available starting today, February 26, at 10 a.m. at denvercenter.org. Renewing subscribers, followed by members of the waitlist, will receive priority seating. Some restrictions apply. A public on-sale will be announced at a later date.

Inspired by the beloved films, the romantic and adventure-filled new musical ANASTASIA is on a journey to Denver at last. From the Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime, this dazzling show transports us from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family. ANASTASIA features a book by celebrated playwright Terrence McNally, a lush new score by Stephen Flaherty (music) and Lynn Ahrens (lyrics) with direction by Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak.

Based on one audience suggestion (a title for a play that has yet to be written) The Improvised Shakespeare Co. creates a fully improvised Shakespearean masterpiece right before your very eyes! Each of the players has brushed up on his “thee’s” and “thou’s” to bring you an evening of off-the-cuff comedy using the language and themes of William Shakespeare. Nothing has been planned out, rehearsed, or written. All of the dialogue is said for the first time, the characters are created as you watch, and if every you’re wondering where the story is going…so are they!
