Town Hall Arts Center

presents Sisters of Swing

April 6 – May 6, 2018

Town Hall Arts Center presents SISTERS OF SWING playing now through May 6th in LIttleton, CO. They sold over 90 million records, nine of them gold. They had more top ten hits than the Beatles or Elvis. And they are still one of the best-selling female vocal groups of all time. You’ll understand why when you see Sisters of Swing: The Story of the Andrews Sisters! The next main stage show of the 2017-2018 Town Hall Arts Center season is Sisters of Swing. Written by Beth Gilleland and Bob Beverage, Musical Arrangements by Raymond Berg. Sisters of Swing follows sisters LaVerne, Maxene and Patty Andrews from their early days on the road through their rise as recording stars to entertaining American GI’s overseas to dissembling over differences. The score intermingles over twenty hit songs like “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon,” “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree” and, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” This show goes beyond the ordinary to offer a unique perspective into these women as human beings, showing how the events of their lives shaped who they became to the rest of the world.

Nick Sugar is back directing and choreographing his third show of the 2017-2018 season. Nick recently directed Peter and the Starcatcher and In the Heights, this season and A Christmas Story, Bonnie and Clyde, and Hairspray last season. Nick serves as a resident director at Town Hall Arts Center and has received several honors for his work including The Best of Westword Award, The Denver Post Award, The Henry Award and The Marlowe Award.

Musical direction is by Donna Kolpan Debreceni; last seen directing music for Something’s Afoot, Peter and the Starcatcher, Seussical, the Musical and In the Heights this season. Donna is a Henry Award Winner for THAC’s 2012 production of The Who’s Tommy. Donna will be doing double duty, playing keyboards with Jon-Paul Frappier on trumpet, Mark Nepi on drums, Rob Olds on trombone, Mary Stribling on bass, and Bob Rebholz on reeds.
